Military History
Viveash was admitted sick to hospital 1.8.1915 prior to embarkation.
Embarked Fremantle HMAT 'Themistocles’ 13.10.1915.

Roll Unit 10th Light Horse Regtiment, 10th Reinf.
Viveash disembarked at Egypt in November 1915. He underwent a period of intensive training. The 10th Light Horse were based at Suez to defend the Railhead. They were known as the Desert Mounted Corps. Viveash became ill and was admitted sick to hospital for 3 days from 30.3.1916. He was readmitted with a debility. (including sleeplessness, nervousness and a tremor) 20.5.1917. He was admitted to a Rest Camp 13.6.1917. Viveash became ill with gastritis 21.6.1916 -17.7.1916 and was noted to have an irregular heart beat. He rejoined his unit in Moascar and was then diagnosed with Malaria 25.6.1917- 31.8.1918. He had contracted malaria 4 years earlier in civilian life. It is not known if Viveash fought at the charge of Beersheba, due to his ill health. Viveash was part of the advance to Ludd-Damascus in September 1918. He was part of the advanced patrol that forced the ford over Jordan near Jisr Benal Yakub (Bridge of Jacob's Daughters across the River Jordan) This action saw the Light Horse pusue the German rearguard, without artillery support. The Light Horse Regiment sustained some losses. Viveash was wounded in action in this battle with GSWs to his abdomen and right arm 27.9.1918. He was carried by Trooper Green, who rendered first aid. Viveash was admitted to the 5th Light Horse Field Ambulance Hospital 28.9.1918, where he died of wounds 28.9.1918 (Recorded West Australian Newspaper 23.10.1918). Viveash was buried by Rev. A.S. Houston at Jemimi, 50 yards West off the main road, near the old winery. His body was exhumed and reinterred to Haifa Military Cemetery, Palestine 26.3.1912 in the presence of a Chaplain. Today the cemetery is known as Haifa War Cemetery, Haifa, Israel.
