Embarked Fremantle per ‘Persic’ A34 to England 29.12.1916.

Roll Unit 39th Battalion, 6th Reinf.
Morrison disembarked at Devonport with the 39th Bn. 3.3.1917. He marched in to the 10th Training Bn. at Larkhill, Durrington 21.3.1917. Morrison was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital 12.4.1917 and 1.5.1917. After a period of intensive training, he proceeded overseas to France via Southampton 31.8.1917. Morrison marched in to Base Details at Etaples and was transferred to the 39th Bn. He was taken on Strength in the field 14.9.1917 it is unclear if he fought at Broodsiende as after 3 days he reported sick to Hospital with myalgia 17.9.1917 and was transferred by HS ‘St Denis’ to England as an invalid. He was hospitalised at Queen Mary Military Hospital, Whalley, with myalgia 20.12.1917. Morrison was listed for early return to Australia, invalided with myalgia.

Notes Morrison had a brother James (SN 4171)) who also served in WW1. The Waterhall Estate with its entry off East Street, Guildford was their family home. James de Burgh Morrison built two identical homes for his two sons in East St. Guildford (The Park) and in Queens Road, South Guildford (Malahide)
