Military History
Moss was underage and received his parents’ endorsement to enlistment.
Embarked Albany per HMAT ‘Port Darwin’ 8.6.1918.

Roll Unit 28th Battalion, 1st Reinf, AIF.
Moss disembarked at Suez with his Bn. and was taken on strength with 28th Bn. 17.6.1916. He entrained with his Bn. to Alexandria, joined the BEF and embarked for England 3.7.1916. Moss disembarked at Southampton 16.7.1918 and marched in to the 5th Training Bn. at Fovant 16.7.1918 and was allotted to Reinf. for the 28th Bn. 16.7.1918. After a period of intensive training, he proceeded overseas to France via Dover 4.10.1918. Moss marched in to the Australian Infantry Base Details (AIBD) Havre 6.10.1918. He was taken on strength with 28th Bn. 10.10.1918 just after the Battle of Beaurevoir. Moss marched out of France for return to England, for demobilisation 26.5.1919. He marched in to Sutton Veny 27.5.1919. and was listed for return to Australia.
Embarked for Australia per City of Exeter 15.7.1919.
Returned/Disembarked 8.8.1919.
Discharged 1.9.1919.
Final Rank Private, 28th Bn. AIF.
Medical Condition NK.
Awards and Medals British War Medal, Victory Medal.
Notes. It is unclear if Moss was engaged in front line warfare and he may have been rotected from this with behind lines work as appears to have been the practice with many underage young men. He died 5.9.1985.
