Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Ulysses’ for Suez 1.4.1916.

Roll Unit 28th Battalion, 10th Reinf, AIF.
Morrison disembarked in Egypt with the 28th Bn. He transferred to the 5th Military District HQ. 21.5.1916. After a period of intensive training, he joined the BEF and embarked from Alexandria for England 17.6.1916. Morrison travelled per the ‘Transylvania’ via Marseilles to England. He marched in to the AIF HQ Central Registry at Tidworth, England 25.6.1916. He was promoted from L/Cpl to T/Cpl. 25.10.1916. Morrison was admitted to Tidworth Hospital 5.3.1917. He was promoted to Acting Cpl. 28.2.1918. C
Morrison ceased duty with HQ AIF 28.2.1918 and reverted to ranks 28.2.1918 (Private) 22.6.1918. Morrison was listed for early to Australia with bronchitis.
Embarked UK per ‘Matatua’ D13, for Australia 13.6.1918.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 8.8.1918 (West Australian Newspaper 8.8.1918).
Discharged 4.9.1918.

Medical Condition Invalided with bronchitis.
Awards and Medals General Service Medal and Ribbon of Victory Medal. He did not serve on strength with a regiment in the theatre of war and not eligible for Victory Medal. In 1939 he was entitled to a War Medal and an Australian Service Medal.
Notes Morrison held awards held from Boer War, Queens South Africa Medal with 6 bars. He probably was not involved in active service because of his age. His father James Morrison was a director of the AMP Society, was on the Board of the WA Trustees and Agency Coy. and Member of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly from 1887 until 1897.
Morrison had one brother Ulich (SN 2867) who also served in WW1.
