Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Miltiades' A28 for UK 9.12.1917.

Roll Unit 51st Infantry Battalion, 9th Reinf.
Moir disembarked at Devonport with the 51st Infantry 27.3.1917. He marched in to 13th Infantry Training Bn. at Codford 28.3.1917. After a period of intensive training he proceeded overseas to France via Southampton 25.6.1917. Moir was transferred from Reinf. to the 51st Bn. and taken on Strength 15.7.1917 in the field. The 51st Bn fought at the Battle of Mouquet Farm as part of the Battle of Pozieres between August and September 1917. Moir was hospitalised sick 22.8.1917. He was transferred by HS ‘St David’ to England. He was admitted to the 2/1st Southern General Hospital at Dudley Rd. with a debility 6.9.1914. Moir was transferred to Dartford Hospital. On recovery he proceeded overseas to France ex SandHill Training Camp 10.11.1917. He rejoined Unit 26.11.1917. To Hospital with septic foot in the Field 22.4.1918. He developed tinea barbae (fungal infection of the face) 16.6.1918. Moir was wounded with gassing 13.7.1918. Moir embarked per HS ‘Pieter de Cormick’ for England 13.7.1918. He was admitted to Hospital in Guildford 13.7.1918. Moir was transferred to the 3rd Auxiliary Hospital at Dartford 24.7.1918. Moir marched out from Dartford to the Overseas Training Bde. at Hurdcott. He marched in to the 3rd Training Bde, Cone Camp Depot Hurdcott and was listed for return to Australia 9.8.1919.
met Mildred Postans, a telegraphist working near the Australian Troop Station on Salisbury Plains. They married 20.6.1919 at Salisbury.
