Embarked Fremantle per RMS ‘Karmala’ for Egypt 12.2.1917.
Roll Rank Trooper/Private.
Roll Unit 10th Light Horse Regiment 25th Reinforcements.
Jones disembarked at Suez 11.3.1917. He marched in to Details Camp 12.3.1917. After a short period he was taken on strength as Reinforcements to the Light Horse 26.3.1917. Jones transferred to the 10th Light Horse Regiment at Moascar with Egyptian Expeditionary Forces (EEF) 22.4.1916 and taken on strength 26.4.1916. He was promoted to T/Squadron Sergeant 22.5.1916 and to Squadron Sergeant. 5.7.1916. The 10th Light Horse saw action at Suez and Sinai, they advanced into Palestine and fought at Beersheba and the El Salt Raid. This Regiment was the first to enter Damascus following the fall of the Ottoman Army. Jones was hospitalised with jaundice 10.1.1919. The 10th Light Horse played an active role during the Egyptian Uprisings at Suez Zagazig in 1919.  Jones was promoted to T/ Sergeant 22.5.1919 and and to Saddlery Sergeant 5.7.1919. He was listed for return to Australia.
