Hyatt was promoted to Farrier Quarter Master (FQM) on 9.12.1914. He was drafted to Heliopolis and Mena Camp. Hyatt was admitted to Hospital with Malaria 5.10.1915 and a gastric ulcer in 1916. He was admitted to the No 3 and No 1 Australian General Hospitals and the No 3 Auxiliary Hospital at Abbassia. Hyatt was invalided with malaria and listed for early return to Australia.
Embarked Suez for Australia per HS ‘Kanowna’ 11.5.1916.
Returned/Disembarked Melbourne 16.6.1916.
Discharged from Army 27.6.1916.

Notes Montague C Hyatt is recorded as having previously served with the Royal Navy by 1901, Service Number 194138, based at Shorncliffe, Folkestone, in a training camp for new recruits. When later posted to Australia, he did not return and took up a position with the Guildford Remount Depot). Records held at the National Archive, Admiralty: Royal Navy Registers of Seamen's Services ref 137/108. This information appears to conflicts with his given service record. He had  relationship with Helen(surname not recorded) and had one son.
