Military History
Embarked. Fremantle per HMAT ‘Suevic’ A29 to UK 16.6.1916.

Davies disembarked at Plymouth 26.7.1916 with the 15th Reinf. 28th Bn. He marched in to Larkhill for training. Davies was reported AWOL for 4 days 25.10.1916. He was hospitalised 14.11.1916 and discharged to No.4 Com. Depot at Wareham. He was reported AWOL 20.2.1917 and awarded 14 days detention. Davies was reported AWOL for 1 month from 20.2.1917, when apprehended he was admitted to Hospital at Wareham 7.3.1917. He was reported AWOL 25.4.1917 and awarded loss of 12 days pay and a trial. He was reported AWOL 20.5.1917 when he failed to board the troopship for France to 28.7.1917. He was Court Martialled and sentenced to 158 days detention, this was revoked and he was sent overseas Southampton to France 24.10.1917. The 44th Battalion fought at Broodseinde Ridge and suffered many casualties in October 1917. Kingsbury was reported sick in the field 13.5.1918 and sent from the 5th Casualty Clearing Station to Hospital at Rouelles with Vascular Disease of the Heart (VDH) then to the No1 Convalescent Depot 31.5.1918. He marched in to the Australian Infantry Base Depot 6.7.1918. In September he returned to England 23.9.1918 for early return to Australia as an invalid.
