Military History
Mc Swain was sent to NCO School Belmont 1.4.1916. On completion of his course he was enrolled in the 22nd Reinf.10th Light Horse as Cpl. 15.8.1916. He was promoted to Probationary Sgt. 1.9.1916.
Embarked Adelaide per ‘Bakara’ for Egypt 4.11.1916.

McSwain disembarked at Suez 4.12.1916. He was promoted to T/ Sgt., then reverted to Trooper 4.12.1916. He attended the Imperial School of Instruction at Zeitoun under command. Meyer passed as 1st Class Machine Gunner. The transferred back to the 10th Light Horse Regiment 10.3.19 17. Trooper McSwain reported sick 10.8.1917 and was sent to the Rest Camp at Port Said. He his rejoined Regiment 20.8.1917. Meyer reported sick and was admitted to hospital with tonsillitis 22.9.1917. He was sent to Rest Camp at Moascar 24.9.1917. McSwain marched in for duty at Port Suez 17.11.1918, where his regiment were protecting the railhead. Taken on strength in the field with 10th Light Horse at Moascar 18.11.1918. He was sent to Central Training Depot at Moascar. Meyer was taken ill with measles, he was taken to the Field Ambulance 6.4.1919 and then to 26th Stationary Field Hospital. On discharge and recovery, he was taken on strength at Zagazig 18.4.1919. He marched in to Moascar for return to Australia 4.7.1919.
Embarked at Kantara per HT ‘Oxfordshire’ for return to Australia 10.7.1919.
Returned/Disembarked 4.8.1919.
Discharged 11.9.1919.
