Embarked Albany per HMAS ‘Port Darwin’ for Egypt 8.6.1918.

Roll Unit 38th Battery Australian Field Artillery.
Coe disembarked at Suez with the 38th Battery Australian Field Artillery 7.6.1918. He was taken on strength at the Australian Camp Suez 7.6.1918. Coe transferred to Alexandria and prepared for embarkation to UK with British Expeditionary Force 3.7.1918. Coe disembarked at Southampton 16.7.1918. He marched in to the 15th Training Battalion at Fovant 18.7.1918 and was allotted to the 28th Battalion as a Reinforcement 18.7.1918. After several months of intensive training, Coe proceeded overseas to France 4.10.1918. He was taken on strength with 28th Battalion 10.10.1918 that were fighting at the Battle of Mont St. Quentin- Peronne. He was hospitalised with an unspecified debility 15.1.1919 and admitted to the Evacuating Hospital 23.1.1919. Coe was invalided to England per Hospital Ship ‘Jan Breydel’ and admitted to the 3rd Auxiliary Hospital at Dartford 3.2.1919. He was transferred to the Paddington Voluntary Aid Detachment (run by the Red Cross) 10.2.1919. He marched in to Weymouth for return to Australia as an invalid.

Notes Coe married Fleda Beatrice May in 1926. They had issue of two children and were divorced in 1936, due to his wife's unhappiness with life on the farm at Ballingup, WA. (WAN 16.10.1936 p5)
