Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Borda’ A30 for UK 29.6.1917.
Roll Unit 25th Reinforcements 16th Battalion.

Bull disembarked at Plymouth with the 25th Reinforcement 16th Battalion in England 25.8.1917. He marched in to Codford with 4th Training Battalion. Bull reverted to rank of Private 1.11.1917. After a short period of intensive training, he proceeded overseas to France 4.12.1917. He transferred to the 44th Battalion 10.12.1917. For 5 months over the winter of 1916-17, his Battalion was rotated between the frontline on the Somme and to the rear (Australian War Memorial 44th Battalion). The 44th Battalion and took part in the preparatory Battle of Hamel and during this period Bull was promoted to Lance Corporal 15.7.1918. His Battalion fought at St. Quentin, and he was promoted to Corporal 10.10.1918. Bull was demobilised and returned to England 3.12.1919 for return to Australia.

Returned/Disembarked Albany 10.4.1919.
Discharged 4.5.1919.

Note Bull attended Guildford Grammar School as a student and on his return from active service, joined the school as a staff member 1919-1926. He married Annie youngest daughter of the Hon. James and Mrs. Gardiner of Applecross in 1924 (Western Mail 24.1.1924 p27 Family Notices)
