Military History
Embarked Fremantle per HMAT A9 ‘Shropshire’ 31.3.1916 for Egypt.

Roll Unit 7th Infantry Brigade, 28th Infantry Battalion, 11th Reinforcement
Brockman disembarked in Egypt with the 28th Battalion 11th Reinforcement. He trained at Tel-el-Kebir. His Battalion entrained for Alexandria, joined the British Expeditionary Force and embarked for France per ‘Scotian’ 10.5.1916. They disembarked at Marseilles 18.5.1916. They marched in to the Battalion Base Depot at Rouen. Five weeks later Brockman was hospitalized at No1 General Hospital at Etaples with Disordered Action of the Heart (DAH) a stress reaction. He was transferred per Hospital Ship ‘Newhaven’ from the Auxiliary Hospital Etaples to England 25.5.1916. Brockman was admitted to the No 1 Orpington Military Hospital, Harefield, Middlesex 5.9.1916. He marched in to No 2 Com. Dep. Weymouth from Hospital 28.9.1916 and listed for early return with stress disorder - disordered action of the heart (DAH).
Embarked at Portland for return to Australia for ‘a change’ per HT ‘Ajana’ 17.10.1916.
Returned/Disembarked at Fremantle 30.11.1916.
Discharged 18.3.1917.
Final Rank Private, 28th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force.
Medical Condition Invalided (DAH).
