Woodhouse was underage and required his parents written permission to enlist.
Embarked from Melbourne per HMAT 'Karmala' 27.6.1916.
Roll Rank Gunner.
Roll Unit 3rd Artillery Brigade.
Woodhouse disembarked at Plymouth 25.8.1916. He transferred to the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column (AMC). After a short period of intensive training, he proceeded overseas to France 24.11.1916 and was taken on strength with the 30th Battery 3rd DAC. Woodhouse was fined for 2 offences in May and June 1917. He transferred from the 3rd DAC to the 8th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) 29.11.1917 as a Driver. The 8th FAB in 1918 fought at Hamel, Amiens, Mont St. Quentin, and the Hindenburg Line. Woodhouse would have fought in many of these battles. He marched out of Havre for England in 7.5.1919 and marched in to Sutton Veny 7.5.1919. He was demobilized and listed for return to Australia.

Discharged 22.8.1919.
Final Rank Driver, 30th Battery 8th FAB. 3rd Division.
