Military History
Turner was undrage when he enlisted and required hs mother's written permission. he was initially placed in the Camel Corp 28.6.1917. He was transferred to the 10th Light Horse Regt. when 18 years of age. 9.11.1917.
Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Commonwealth’ A73 for Egypt 19.11.1917.

Roll Rank 10th Light Horse Regiment, ‘C’ Squadron.
Turner disembarked in Egypt 10.12.1917. He was hospitalised at Moascar with a debility 11.12.1917 and subsequently forfeited 96 days pay. He returned to the 10th Light Horse Regt. 23.5.1918 and joined the Egyptian Expeditionary Force (EEF) The Imperial Mounted Division was a unit comprised of the Light Horse Regiments and created in 1917. Turner is likely to have been part of this unit when it accepted the formal surrender of Damascus on October 1st 1918. Turner was admitted to Hospital with conjunctivitis 12.11.1918. He suffered food poisoning from an ice cream 18.6.1919. and was listed for return to Australia in July 1919.
Embarked in Suez for Australia per ‘Oxfordshire’ 10.7.1919.
Returned/Disembarked at Fremantle 4.8.1918.
Discharged 27.8.1919.
Final Rank Trooper/ Private 10th Light Horse.
