Embarked Melbourne HMAT ‘Orsova’ A67 for Egypt 12.11.1915.

Turnbull disembarked in Egypt. He marched in to the Details Camp at Moascar. Turnbull was promoted to Sgt. of ‘B’ Platoon 1.4.1916. He was admitted to the 3rd Australian General Hospital Abbassia with colic 18.6.1916. Turnbull was promoted to Farrier Sgt. He was hospitalised with Renal Calculus 18.7.1916. On recovery, he marched in to the Remount Depot at Heliopolis 9.10.1916. Turnbull was diagnosed with an appendicitis 25.3.1917. He was reported ill (West Australian Newspaper 7.4.1917). Turnbull rejoined his unit 14.5.1917; however, he was diagnosed with an infection in appendix wound. This was detailed as pain and adhesions in the appendix scar. Turnbull was subsequently admitted to hospital 17.7.1918, 4.8.1918, 20.8.1918, 6.9.1918, 8.9.1918, He rejoined his unit 21.9.1918 and was listed for return to Australia.
Embarked Suez for Australia per H.T. ‘Devon’ 21.9.1918 for ’other reasons’.
Returned/Disembarked Australia 21.10.1919.
Discharged 29.11.1918.
