Embarked Sydney per HMAT ’Medic’ A7 for UK. 1.8.1917.
Roll Rank Private.
Roll Unit 4th Brigade, 16th Infantry Battalion, 26th Reinf.
Taylor was transferred from HMAT ‘Medic’ to SS ’Orita’ in Halifax, Nova Scotia 21.9.1917, before proceeding on to disembark at Liverpool 3.10.1917. He marched in to the 4th Training Bn. at Codford 3.10.1917. After almost 3 months of intensive training, Taylor with his Unit embarked at Southampton for France 16.1.1918. He was taken on Strength with the 16th Bn. 26.1.1918. The 4th Brigade fought at Bullecourt and sustained heavy losses in April, they were engaged in further action in the German Spring Offensive in May 1918 (AWM 16th Bn). Taylor was wounded in action with a minor GSW to his leg 3.5.1918, he was taken by the 4th Field Ambulance for medical attention and rejoined his Unit 6.5.1918 (West Australian Newspaper 14.6 1918). He was briefly detached to the 4th Bde., then rejoined his Unit in the field in France 27.6.1918. He was detached from the 16th Bn. and sent to the Australian Graves Registration Dept. in France 24.3.1919 –18.8.1919. Taylor returned to UK 22.8.1919 and marched in to No.2 Group at Sutton Veny. He was listed for return to Australia.
