Embarked Fremantle per A28 HMAT ‘Miltiades’ 29.1.1917.

Roll Unit 9th Reinf, 51st Battalion, AIF.
Stonestreet disembarked with the 9th Reinf. of the 51st Bn. at Devonport, UK. 27.3.1917.
He marched in to the 13th Training Bn. at Codford 28.3.1917. After an intensive period of training, Stonestreet proceeded overseas for France 23.7.1917. The 51st Bn. fought in the Third Battle of Ypres, a major Allied offensive in the Flanders area in 1917. Stonestreet fought in the trenches on the Somme in Autumn and developed Trench Foot 15.10.1917. He was taken to the 14th General Hospital at Wimereux and transferred to the Convalescent Depot at Boulogne 20.10.1917. He rejoined his unit but was again taken ill with trench feet 4.11.1917. Stonestreet rejoined his Unit in France 20.12.1917. He became sick in the field 12.4.1918 and was treated at the 12th Casualty Clearing Station. He was detached from 51st Bn. to Australian Army Corp. Workshops 18.9.1918. Following demobilization, Stonestreet was listed for return to Australia.
