Military History


Bostock enlisted as a Private with 11th Reinforcement 28th Battalion. He transferred to Artillery Reinforcement as a Gunner 16.11.1916. He proceeded to Maribyrnong, Victoria for Artillery Training 18.1.1917-13.3.1917.
Embarked Melbourne per HMAT ‘Ascanius’ A11 f for UK 11.5.1917.

Roll Unit 12th Reinforcement, 10th Field Artillery Brigade.
Bostock disembarked at Devonport with the 12th Reinforcement, 10th Field Artillery Brigade 20.7.1917. He marched in to Reserve Brigade Australian Artillery at Larkhill 21.7.1917. After several months of intensive training he proceeded overseas to France from Southampton 17.11.1917. He was taken on strength with the 7th Field Artillery Brigade 24.11.1917 possibly in the attack on Broodseinde Ridge Bostock endured a long winter and spring of trench war fare and was admitted to hospital with eczema 27.7.1918. A month later he was admitted to hospital with Erythema (skin sensitivity condition) 5.8.1918. On discharge from hospital, he marched in to his unit 3.9.1918. Bostock took leave to England 10.11.1918. He was transferred to Army Admin HQ 4.1.1919, then to Australian Imperial Force HQ 6.1.1919. Bostock was demobilized and listed for return to Australia.
Embarked for return to Australia per ‘Ypiringa’ 15.11.1919.
Returned/Disembarked 26.12.1919.
Discharged 2.3.1920.
