Snook enlisted in Perth with the signallers. He was transferred to Ascot Vale, Victoria for further training 24.8.1917 and then to Simpson Barracks, Macleod, Vic 1.7.1917. Signallers were part of the responsibility of the Royal Australian Engineers. Snook was then transferred to Broad Meadows as part of the 1st Davison, prior to embarkation overseas.
Embarked Melbourne per HMAT ‘Nestor’ A71 for UK 28.2.1918.

Snook disembarked at Liverpool 20.4.1918. He marched in to Parkhouse 20.4.1918 and joined the Training Depot Signalling Section at Clifton 30.4.1918. He was then sent to Biggleswade in Bedfordshire for additional training 19.9.1918. Snook proceeded overseas to France 5.10.1918. He marched in to Abbeville 7.10.1918 to the 4th Division Signal Coy. 10.10.1918. No records were viewed to show if was engaged in front line work. However, he marched out of France for embarkation to England and then marched in to Hurdcott Base 21.5.1919. He was listed for return to Australia.
Embarked for Australia per ‘City of Exeter’ 12.7.1919.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 16.8.1919.
Discharged 9.9.1919.
