Military History
Sherlock was promoted Acting L/Cpl. 16.8.1915.
Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Hororata’ 1.10.1915. He was promoted to Voyage only Sgt. 7.10.1915.

Roll Unit 9th Reinf, 16th Battalion.
Sherlock disembarked with the 9/16 Bn. at Suez. He was taken on Strength from 16th Bn. to the 4th Division Signal Coy. 18.1.1916 at Tel-el-Kebir. Sherlock was briefly attached to the 13th Infantry Bn. 1.5.1916 He entrained for Alexandria to join the BEF and embarked per ‘Kinsfaun Castle’ for France 2.6.1916. He disembarked at Marseilles 8.6.1916. Sherlock was admitted to hospital and was diagnosed with diphtheria 25.6.1916. He embarked for England per the HS ’Jan Breydal ‘ 2.7.1917 and was transferred to the Birmingham War Hospital. He was transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford for convalescence. Sherlock was listed for early return to Australia with post diphtheria symptoms as an invalid.
Embarked for Australia per ‘Port Darwin’ 11.1.1918.
Returned/Disembarked Albany 26.2.1918.
Discharged 29.3.1918.

Medical Condition Invalided with post diphtheria neuritis and myocarditis.
