Military History
Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Persic’ A34 29.12.1916.
Roll Rank Voyage only Sergeant.
Roll Unit 28th Australian Infantry Battalion, 18th Reinf, AIF.
Robinson disembarked in England 4.3.1917 and marched with into the 7th Training Bn. at Rolleston Camp, Wiltshire. He was promoted to ED Cpl. 6.3.1917. The 7th Training Bn. proceeded overseas to France from Southampton 14.6.1917. Robinson reverted to rank of Private on embarkation. His Bn. marched into the 2nd Australian Div. Base Depot at Havre 15.6.1917. Robinson was taken on strength with the 28th Bn. 3.7.1917 and appointed L/Cpl 9.7.1917. The 28th Bn. provided support at the second Battle of Bullecourt, Menin Road. Robinson was wounded with SW to his back, thigh and arm on 4.10.1917. He was transferred by the 3rd Field Ambulance to a Casualty Clearing Station then to the 16th General Hospital at Le Treport. Robinson was transferred to England as an invalid per HS ‘Warilda’ 7.12.1917. He was admitted to Bristol Hospital 8.12.1917 and transferred to Beaufort War Hospital in Harefield 28.3.1918. After 2 weeks furlough he reported to No. 2 Weymouth for early return to Australia for ‘Change‘ as invalid.
Embarked England per ‘Matuata’ for return to Australia 17.6.1918.
Returned/Disembarked Melbourne 15.8.1918.
Discharged 4.9.1918.
Final Rank L/Cpl 28th Bn.
Medical Condition Invalided.
