Enlisted with parental permission.
Embarked Albany per HMAS ‘Port Darwin’ 8.5.1918.
Pendlebury disembarked Suez 1.6.1918. His Bn. was taken on strength at Suez Camp 7.6.1918. He was taken to the Government Hospital at Suez with diarrhoea 22.6.1918. On recovery, he was discharged and transferred to Alexandria to rejoin his unit. The 28th Bn. joined the BEF for embarkation per HMAT ‘Port Darwin’ to England. They disembarked at Southampton 16.7.1918. Pendlebury marched in to the 5th Training Bn. at Fovant. The Training Bn. proceeded overseas to France via Dover 6.10.1918. They were taken on strength with 28th Bn. 10.10.1918. This was the Bn’s last action in war fought as part of the effort to break through the Beaurevoir Line (AWM Units 28th Bn).
Pendlebury was listed for post war duty in London, England. He disembarked at Folkestone for duty with Australian War Records Section 9.5.1919. He was listed for return to Australia.

Returned/Disembarked 16.11.1919.
Discharged 19.12.1919.
