Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Hororata’ for Egypt 1.10.1915.

Roll Unit ‘B’ Company, 7th Infantry Brigade, 28th Infantry Battalion, 4th Reinf.
Passmore disembarked at Suez with the 28th Bn. They were taken on Strength at Tel-el-Kebir 19.1.1916. Parsons was admitted to hospital in Ismailia with pyrexia 17.2.1916 and rejoined the Bn. at Ferry Post 20.2.1916. The 28th Bn. was transferred to Alexandria, joined the BEF and embarked for France 16.3.1916. They disembarked at Marseilles 21.3.1916. Passmore was engaged with his Unit at the Battle of Pozieres when he was reported missing in action 29.7.1916 (Reported in West Australian Newspaper 26.8.1916). Red Cross Files had eye witness reports of him being hit in the head and chest near the German front lines and his disk was retained by Private D. L. Evans of the 28th Bn. (AWM Red Cross Files). The Court of Enquiry in France 4.1.1917 determined that Passmore was KIA 29.7.1916 in the Field at Pozieres, France (Reported Western Mail 2.3.1917). He is commemorated at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France.
