Embarked Sydney per HMAT ‘Ulysses’ A38 for Egypt 20.2.1916.

Roll Unit Australian Mining Corps, 3rd Tunnelling Coy.
Munday disembarked in Egypt with his Bn. He entrained to Alexandria, joined the BEF and embarked for France. Munday disembarked at Marseilles and entrained to Hazebrouck 5.5.1916. He detrained at Hazebrouck 8.5.1916. The Mining Corps was disbanded in October 1916, however, the Tunnelling Coys’ continued under the Engineers (RSL Virtual War Memorial). The 3rd Tunnellers served in the Fauquissart area near Hill 70 for most of 1916. They were involved in the Arras offensive and around Fauquissart during 1917 (Brief Chronology of 3rd Tunnellers). Munday reported sick 18.1.1918 and had several further admissions for various complaints including scabies, boils, dermatitis 25.1.1919- 24.3.1919. He marched out of France to England and into Codford, for return to Australia.
Embarked England per ‘Somali’ for Australia 1.6.1919.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 8.7.1919.
Discharged 22.8.1919.
