Embarked Fremantle per ‘Uganda’ A66 for 20.9.1916, then ‘Port Macquarie’ to UK 13.10.1916.

Male disembarked with the Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC) at Plymouth 15.11.1916. He marched in to AAMC Training Depot at Parkhouse 17.11.1916. After a period of intensive training, he proceeded overseas to France 29.11.1916. He marched into Base Depot and was then transferred to the 4th Field Ambulance and taken on strength in the Field 30.12.1916. The winter of 1916-17 was very harsh and the soldiers experienced much ill health in the trenches. Male contracted mumps and was hospitalised 18.2.1917. He rejoined his Unit 10.3.1917. The 4th Field Ambulance was present on the field at Bullecourt and lost 234 personnel either killed or wounded (Bullecourt Digger). Male was detached to the 12th Field Ambulance in Belgium 26.3.1919. He was transported to England and marched in to Hurdcott 8.5.1919, for return to Australia as nursing staff.
Embarked for Australia per ‘Somali’ 18.5.1919.
Returned/Disembarked 8.7.1919.
Discharged 15.8.1919.
Final Rank Private, 4th Field Ambulance.
Medical Condition NK.
Awards and Medals British War Medal, Victory Medal.
Notes Male moved to South Australia and married Edna May. He worked as a newsagent in Kensinton (Advertiser . SA 15.2.1950) and died in Cowell, SA 28.8.1978. (District Council of Franklin Harbour, SA).
