Embarked Fremantle per RMS ‘Mongolia’ for Egypt 23.11.1915.

Roll Unit 12th Reinforcements, 10th Light Horse Regtiment, 3rd Light Horse Brigade.
Lyons disembarked in Egypt with his Regt. He was appointed to 12/10th Light Horse at Heliopolis. The Regiment joined the 3rd Light Horse Brigade at Heliopolis 1.3.1916. Lyons was transferred to the 4th Divisional Artillery 1.4.1916 and then to the 4th Divisional Ammunition Column 7.4.1916. He was mustered as a Gunner 17.4.1916, then promoted to Driver 24.5.1916. Lyons entrained with his unit to Alexandria, joined the BEF and embarked for France per HT ‘Oriana’ 6.6.1916. He disembarked at Marseilles 13.6.1916. During this period they fought at Armentieres. Lyons was admitted to hospital sick with visual disturbances 28.9.1917 and sent to Weymouth for Psychotherapy for Strabismus. He rejoined the 4th Division Ammunition Column in France 4.10.1917. His Brigade fought at Polygon Wood, Passchendaele and Ypres throughout 1917. Lyons fought in the trenches in the Somme throughout 1918 including at Arras and Flanders with the 4th DAC. He was demobilized and marched out to England 13.3.1919. He disembarked with his unit at Weymouth 14.3.1919 and marched in to Hurdcott. He marched out from Hurdcott to Weymouth for return to Australia 9.4.1919.
Embarked for Australia per ‘Leicestershire’ for return to Australia 3.5.1919.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 12.6.1919.
Discharged 5.8.1919.

Notes Lyon's brother J.E. Lyons (SN 1617) also served in WW1. His Mother died in 1914 prior to his enlistment.
Lyons was married 3.8.1915 prior to enlisting with the 10th Light Horse.
