Military History


Kingsbury enlisted with 23rd Reinforcements Artillery for training at Blackboy Hill. He was transferred to Maribyrnong Vic. for Artillery Training. During this time with the Artillery Reinforcements he was promoted to Gunner. He was appointed Voyage Only(VO) Corporal.
Embarked Melbourne per HMAT ‘Ascanius’ A11 for England 11.5.1917.
Roll Rank Gunner.
Roll Unit 10th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) 12th Reinforcements.
Kingsbury was appointed Bombardier 13.7.1916 prior to disembarkation at Devonport 20.7.1916. He marched in with the 10th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) Reinforcements to Larkhill. He was admitted to hospital at Parkhouse with Mumps 30.7.71916. Kingsbury was discharged to the Training Depot at Larkhill 20.8.1976. He marched in to Artillery Details at Boynton 30.8.1916 then marched in to Weymouth 20.10.1917. King reverted to the permanent rank of Gunner 21.7.1917 with health problems. He was listed for early return to Australia with Myalgia and Endocarditis/ unfit for active service.
Embarked UK per ‘Themistocles’ A32 for Australia 5.11.1917.
Returned/Disembarked 23.12.1917.
Discharged 8.5.1918.
Final Rank Gunner 10th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB).
Medical Condition Invalided with myalgia and Endocarditis.
