Embarked Fremantle per ‘Ulysses’ for Egypt

Roll Unit 15th Reinforcements 16th Battalion Australian Imperial Force (AIF).
Kelly disembarked in Egypt with the 16th Battalion. After the evacuation from Gallipoli in December 1915, the 16th Battalion underwent organizational changes and men were transferred to the 48th Battalion. The new Battalion was comprised of experienced soldiers and new recruits. Kelly was transferred to 48th Battalion 20.5.1916. He entrained to Alexandria, joined the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and embarked for France 7.6.1916. Kelly disembarked at Marseilles14.6.1916. He was admitted to the 2nd Australian General Hospital in Marseilles with Influenza myalgia 15.6.1916. He was discharged and marched in to his unit 6.7.1916. Kelly was re admitted to 26th General Hospital with myalgia 13.7.1916. He was invalided to England by Hospital Ship (HS) ‘Stad Antwerpen’ from Calais with myalgia 14.7.1916. Kelly was admitted to Roath Park Hospital in Cardiff 15.7.1916, he was then moved to Woodcote Park Convalescent Hospital 28.7.1916 with Myalgia 15.8.1916. He was discharged from hospital and marched in to the 12th Training Battalion at Codford Weymouth, for light duties. He was listed for early return to Australia, permanently unfit for service due to an old injury.
Embarked Plymouth for return to Australia per HT ‘Ayreshire’ 23.5.1917.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 19.7.1917.
Discharged 28.7.1917.
