Military History
Embarked Fremantle per 'Port Melbourne' for UK 30 1916.

Roll Unit 51st Infantry Battalion. 7th Reinforcements Australian Imperial Force (AIF).
Jones disembarked at Devonport 28.12.1916. He marched in to the11th Training Battalion. Jones was admitted to Fargo Hospital with Influenza 14.3.1917. On recovery, he marched in to the 11th Training Battalion. at Durrington. He proceeded overseas to France 28.3.1917. At Etaples, he was transferred to the 43rd Battalion. 1.4.1917. Jones was hospitalized for two days from 26.5.1917, he was then sent to a Rest Station from 29.5.1917-2.6.1917. Jones was again hospitalized 6.6.1917 and rejoined his unit 13.9.1917. The 43rd Bn. fought at the Third Battle of Ypres at (AWM 43rd Bn. ) Jones received a minor wound (injured back) during this action 4.10.1917, but he rejoined his unit three days later. He was listed in the 363 Casualty List (Western Argus 30.7.1918 p35 ) ( Jones was rejected from the 43rd Battalion. 11.10.1917. He took leave and was admitted to 2nd General Hospital at Southall with a septic hand and urethritis 13.1.1918. Jones proceeded back to France 26.1.1918 but was again rejected from the 43rd Battalion. He was hospitalized with a debility on several occasions. Jones marched out to the 3rd Divisional Headquarters for placement with Traffic Control 18.3.1918. The 43rd Battalion again rejected him for frontline service 24.3.1918 and he was placed with the Australian Employment Coy. Jones was transferred back to England 7.6.1918. Following a Medical Board recommendation, he was listed for return to Australia 23.8.1918.
