Military History
Jenkinson trained with the Miners Unit as a Sapper at Roseberry Park. Vic. 1.3.1916. He went AWOL and was found drunk. His uniform was not returned as requested and Jenkinson was described as a deserter. He received a punitive award for his offences. Jenkinson continued Training at Belmont WA (see records NAA 21.5.1916.)
Embarked He was to have embarked per SS ‘Orontes’ 6.8.1916, however, records posted, state he was a deserter 5.8.1916 and embarkation was cancelled.
There are no further details of active service or discharge.
Notes Jenkinson married Nell Bagley and had one daughter, who died aged 10 weeks. (West Australian Newspaper 12.2.1951 p54)
