Roll Unit Served with 5th Royal Fusiliers (Traditionally the Regiment in which many Rhodes Scholars served).
Brockman was wounded in action on the Western Front, receiving severe head injuries (Reported West Australian Newspaper 21.6.1918) He suffered severe facial wounds (Drake Brockman, G. 1960). On recovery he was given a posting as a Staff appointment to Dover UK. (West Australian Newspaper 12.9.1917) Wife and infant son died from influenza in epidemic 28.2.1919. (West Australian Newspaper 10.5.1919).

Notes Drake- Brockman won a Rhodes Scholar from Guildford Grammar School in 1910, he won a double first at Oxford and was called to the Bar of the Inner Temple. At the outbreak of war he was a practicing barrister and solicitor in Perth (West Australian Newspaper  12.9.1917) He returned to Australia after the War and was elected to a Federal Senate seat in 1920. he became a noted member of the judiciary and industrial tribunals in later life. The family lived at 143 James (Mangles St up to 1898 and moved to Turton St 1899- 1910) Their mother at 14 and 34 Market St after the war. Post War he resided with his mother at 14 Market St. Guildford. WA.
