Embarked Sydney 1.8.1917 for Halifax, Nova Scotia. Embarked Halifax per SS ‘Orita’ for England 21.9.1917.

Proceeded overseas to France with AFC 16.10.1917. He transferred from Army Service Corps Base Depot 27.12.1917. He was hospitalized for unspecified reasons 18.5.1918. He rejoined his unit 27.5.1918. Coulson was admitted to hospital with Trench Feet 6.12.1918. He continued to experience problems with his feet with a diagnosis of Hallux Valgus (bunions). He was listed for return to Australia.
