Embarked Sydney per HMAT A7 ‘Medic’ 1.8.1917.

Clark and his Army Medical Corps unit transferred from HMAT ‘Medic’ to S.S. ‘Orita,’ at Halifax, Nova Scotia 21.9.1917, before proceeding on to Liverpool, UK, where they disembarked 3.10.1917. He marched in to Parkhouse Army Medical Corps Training Depot. After a period of intensive training he proceeded overseas to France with Army Medical Corps 18.10.1917. He transferred to 8th Field Ambulance 24.10.1917 and was wounded in action with a gunshot wound to his left foot 28.11.1917 at Ypres (possibly at the Battle of Passchendaele) (Reported West Australian Newspaper 12.1.1918). On discharge from Hospital, he was declared fit for active service and rejoined his unit in France 10.12.1917. Clark was hospitalised with influenza 21.10.1918. He was admitted to hospital sick with a debility 15.10.1918 and rejoined his unit 25.1.1919. Clark was married in England to Lois Marie Francois Sweet 1.7.1919. Prior to returning, he was admitted to hospital with scabies 19.9.1919. He returned to Australia with is new wife.
