Military History
Paget was employed at the 1st Remount Depot, Guildford when he enlisted 16.10.1915
He was transferred to Maribyrnong Victoria for further training and was promoted to Sgt. 1.11.1915.
Embarked Melbourne per HMAT ‘Orsova’ A67 for Egypt 12.11.1915.
Roll Rank Acting Sergeant.
Roll Unit 1st Australian Remount Unit.
Paget disembarked in Egypt. He was hospitalised periodically between 25.5.1916- 19.12.1916 with ’nerve debility/ Neurasthenia/ Shell shock’ (West Australian Newspaper 16.12.1916). He was transferred to Abbassia 10.8.1916. He became ill and was diagnosed with Malaria 12.8.1916. Paget was invalided to England per HS ‘Kanowna’ 12.8.1916 and admitted to the 1st General Hospital, Fazakerley, Leicester 1.9.1916. Paget was discharged to work at the Australian Military Records 1.9.1916. He transferred to the 4th Command Depot at Tidworth 2.11.1917 and attended a course in bayonet fighting. Paget qualified with a ‘good’ mark. However, he developed rheumatism and was deemed unfit for active service. Paget was promoted to Sgt. then proceeded overseas from Southampton for Egypt, for early return to Australia 20.5.1918.

Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 26.2.1919.
Discharged 21.4.1919.
Final Rank Sgt., 1st Australian Remount Depot.
Medical Condition Invalided with Neurasthenia, Rheumatism.
Awards and Medals 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.
Note Admitted to Fremantle Hospital on arrival with Rheumatism 7.3.1919. Paget continued to work at the Remount Depot until the 1930s
